Shelter animals pose significant challenges in many countries, this is especially true in Lithuania. Animals are being brought in daily, either found in the streets or abandoned by owners that cannot support them anymore. Swiss Vets for Pets, a non-profit organization, has partnered with TOTO clinic in Vilnius to help finance veterinary care for shelter animals. We will work together with a local animal shelter to provide basic care (spay/ neuter, vaccinations, chipping and deworming) to increase their chance of finding a home.
We are looking for volunteers, especially those interested in animal welfare and those who want to gain surgical experience to support this project. This training program offers a valuable opportunity for veterinary students or professionals seeking hands-on experience in surgery, particularly spay and neuter procedures, and for those passionate about animal welfare and development efforts in this region. Volunteers will receive comprehensive guidance and support from experienced veterinarians, ensuring they gain the most from this unique educational experience.
Why choose Lithuania for an externship? Lithuania offers historical sites like Vilnius Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and picturesque natural landscapes. Its vibrant young culture, delicious cuisine, and unique Baltic traditions make it an unforgettable destination.
If you are interested in applying, please ensure you meet the requirements outlined below. Applications with preferred dates can be submitted to info@swissvetsforpets.ch. Please note that travel costs are not included in the program.
